City to cut back street cleanings in some BK areas

Parking will soon be a little easier for many Brooklyn residents after the city announced it is reducing the number of residential street cleanings in Community Board 6.
A Department of Sanitation spokesperson says both sides of the streets in areas such as Park Slope, Red Hook and Cobble Hill will be cleaned once a week instead of twice.
Residents say they hope the new rules will mean less parking tickets and more convenience for drivers. Motorists will now have to move their cars two times a week instead of four.
The Department of Sanitation says it will increase street cleanings in more commercial areas that need the service. A spokesperson could not say exactly when all the changes will go into effect.
