Some Brooklyn residents hard hit by Wednesday?s tornado are still waiting for cleanup assistance, while crews are helping to get life back to normal in other neighborhoods.

Complicated by Friday?s rainstorm, the cleanup process is stalled in some areas. Residents in those neighborhoods say they are frustrated and not getting answers from authorities on the cleanup process.

Workers were at the site of a home Saturday that had its side and roof blown off, attempting to board up the roof when police stopped them because the city had not deemed the building safe enough to undergo work.

State Senator Martin J. Golden says there are about 40 homes that have to be signed off on by the Department of Buildings so residents and crews can start their cleanup. He says that will take a while though.

Golden said representatives from the city?s Department of Housing Preservation will be in the area to clean up some of the damage from Friday?s storm.

FEMA as well as the state emergency management agency are expected to tour Bay Ridge and other impacted neighborhoods August 13 to assess damage.
