Webb Avenue tenants evacuate apartments
The 6 p.m. deadline has come and gone for tenants of 2400 Webb Avenue, who were ordered to evacuate their apartments by the FDNY.
FDNY officials say the evacuation was necessary after a construction project forced the building's management to remove the fire escapes.
Tenants received a $120/night voucher from the building's management to stay at a local hotel. The now homeless tenants say the management should instead focus on replacing all of the fire escapes as quickly as possible.
News 12 The Bronx called the management company, which said it had "absolutely no comment at this time." The tenants are now stuck waiting for word on when they will be able to return to their apartments.
