Slow zones on the rise around The Bronx

Since the city's Department of Transportation first tested the "slow zone" program in November in the Clearmont section of The Bronx, officials say speeding is down 10 percent. The DOT is now implementing new slow zones in sections of Mount Eden, Eastchester, Baychester and Riverdale. Speed limits will slow from 30 to 20 mph.The slow zones were selected based on the number of schools in the area, crash rates and whether they had large numbers of bus and subway stops.
