Two Bronx students have received awards for rapping to spread an anti-violence message. The students, Tyriek Overton and Jovan Martinez, won the "Rap for RAPP" contest. Their rhymes aimed to raise awareness about the Relationship Abuse Prevention Program, or RAPP, which is set to be renewed under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's budget proposal. RAPP operates in 64 middle and high schools around the city. The students say they're excited to spread the word about bullying to other teens.

Overton recently graduated from Truman High School and is heading to college in the fall. Martinez, a graduate from John F. Kennedy High School, is currently studying social work at Virginia Commonwealth University.
