A broken sidewalk in Soundview has residents concerned for their safety, saying it's an accident waiting to happen.

People say the cracked and uneven sidewalk along Story Avenue and White Plains Road makes it difficult to walk, especially for the elderly and handicapped. Residents say conditions get worse after it rains.

The Department of Transportation issued a statement about the sidewalk, saying "Safety is the Department of Transportation's number one priority and the agency will inspect the area and determine which parties are responsible for making any necessary sidewalk repairs."
