Soundview Health Center gets new owner, name change
Officials announced today that a new health care network will be taking over the former Soundview Health Center building.
The building operated as normal until last month, when the center completely stopped seeing patients. In May, the center's founder, ex-State Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. was convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the center.
The Institute for Family Health, the new owner of the center, says it hopes to get the new Stevenson Family Health Center up and running as soon as possible. The new owners say they are awaiting the state and federal officials' final OK.
