50 Bronx residents attend naturalization ceremony
Fifty Bronx residents were naturalized today, officially becoming citizens of the United States. Attendees say the ceremony, which took place at the Morris Educational Campus in Morrisania, was especially poignant since Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently announced a new immigration campaign. The initiative provides immigration information and financing options to eligible parents of students in the city's public schools. The five-month citizenship process costs about $680, which is why some say they had been living in the United States for years to save up.
