M.S. 223 learns animation on iPads
A new program at M.S. 223 is teaching middle school students how to be animators. For the first time, the Lab School of Finance and Technology is providing eighth-graders with hands-on animation lessons on iPads. A multimedia coordinator at Urban Tech teaches the class twice a week. Urban Tech focuses on training young people for successful futures. The company's president and founder says the class helps fill a big gap. "Over a million jobs are unfilled today because the technical skills don't exist," Urban Tech President Pat Bransford says. "So what we're trying to do is provide those skills so that these young people can be competitive."
