Police are on the hunt for a man who they say viciously attacked a 92-year-old great-grandmother after she took out her trash in Eastchester.
According to police, Wilhelmina Griffin was followed back into her building in the Eastchester Gardens on Burke Avenue at around 11 a.m. Monday. They say the man pushed past her and hid by the elevator where he hit her in the head with something metal.
Griffin says she fought back, hitting him in the face with her keys and pushing him into the elevator door. The suspect then fled the scene empty-handed on a bicycle.
Neighbors say they're living in fear because violence has plagued the NYCHA complex. This past June, police say a man broke into an apartment and stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her two young daughters.
