Summer employment program accepting applications

A summer employment program is already accepting applications for residents in the borough.
The program through the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development is accepting applications for the 2015 Summer Youth Employment Program, or SYEP.
SYEP started back in 1963 and is the nation's largest summer youth jobs initiative. Those between the ages of 14 and 24 can get a minimum wage job for six weeks.
The jobs are with government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, nonprofits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports enterprises and retail stores. All participants are selected by a lottery.
Residents that are chosen are able to work from July 6 through Aug. 15. The deadline to submit an application is April 10.
