Work set to begin on Hunts Point Ave. paving project

Hunts Point Avenue between Garrison and East Bay avenues will soon have a new surface.
Residents have asked the city for new pavement for years. City Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. says the area has been plagued with "Band-Aid jobs," meaning repairs have only included patching up potholes rather than resurfacing the roads, for nearly a decade.
The Department of Transportation recently announced the repaving would begin in the area Monday evening.
Work is scheduled to take place at night to minimize the effect on commuters, and the entire project is expected to be completed in a few weeks, according to the DOT.
