Police: Woman drugged, sexually assaulted inside home
A 21-year-old woman was drugged and sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her Cypress Hills home, police say.
The incident happened Monday on Euclid Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
The woman was home with her 9-month-old son at the time of the incident.
She told police she went to the bathroom while her son was playing in the living room and when she came back, a stranger was standing inside her home.
Police say the man grabbed the woman and placed a cloth with a substance over her face before sexually assaulting her.
Police say the woman lost consciousness, but woke up several minutes later with her hands and feet bound with duct tape.
The 9-month-old child had apparently been moved to another room in the house by the suspect and was not injured, police say.
The victim was able to call her husband and sister for help once she regained consciousness.
Police Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce says he believes the woman's story is genuine, and police are following every lead possible.
