Residents walk to end domestic violence in Bushwick
Brooklyn residents walked to wipe out domestic violence in Bushwick Saturday.
The walk was in honor of Leonida Marisa Nunez, who lost her life to domestic violence when she was fatally stabbed by her husband in 2008.
Every year since then, Nunez's best friend has been organizing walks to keep her spirit alive and help survivors of domestic abuse find their voice.
"Marisa was a wonderful person," says Diane Delgado. "She always loved to be center of the attention and this is her making me do this because this is something that she would do."
Survivors of domestic violence say that the walk shows them that there are people listening and helping.
