Billie Holiday Theatre reopens its doors in Bed-Stuy

The Billie Holiday Theatre officially reopened its doors in Bedford-Stuyvesant Tuesday after two years of renovations.
The theater was founded in 1972, in the middle of the civil rights movement.
Last week, News 12 got a sneak peek inside the historic space ahead of the reopening. Some of the updates are said to include new seating, new carpeting, new lighting and new sound boards.
News 12 has learned that about 30,000 people pass through the 45-year-old theater every year.
