Renovations underway at Di Gilio Playground in Kensington
Renovations are officially underway on a new, state-of-the-art playground in Kensington.
A groundbreaking for the renovations was held Tuesday morning at Di Gilio Playground, located at the corner of McDonald Avenue and Avenue F.
The park is named in honor of Joseph Di Gilio, who was a deputy inspector at the NYPD's 70th Precinct. The project was funded with a total of $2.8 million from City Councilman David Greenfield.
The space used to be home to a roller hockey rink. It is slated to feature brand-new play equipment for kids and fitness equipment for teens and adults, in addition to other amenities.
The work is expected to be completed sometime in 2018.
