Report: 3 correction officers accused of sex crimes against inmates
Three federal correction officers at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center have been accused of committing sex crimes against female inmates in their custody.
The defendants are 47-year-old Carlos Martinez, 46-year-old Eugenio Perez and 39-year-old Armando Moronta.
The extensive FBI investigation uncovered that nine women were the victims of rape or other sexual assaults. They were also threatened by officers for multiple months.
Martinez and Perez each face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Moronta faces a maximum sentence of 60 years.
