Officials are warning Bronx residents about fake IRS calls that appear to be on the rise again.
The phony calls tell victims that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against them.
The IRS says it's easy to spot out when the call is fake. They say if a person owes back taxes, they will get several letters first.
Officials warn people to never give out personal information because if a caller is from the IRS, they should know who they are calling.
The IRS will only want checks made out to the Department of Treasury so officials also advise people to hang up if the caller asks them to pay any other way.
