BK court employees honored for actions during fire

Ten Kings County Criminal Court employees were honored Wednesday for actions taken when flames broke out on the sixth floor of the 13-story building.
A courtroom was filled with appreciation for the court officers and clerk office staff members who went above and beyond in carrying out the safe evacuation of the courthouse. Flames broke out May 10 in the storage area of the building.
Nine employees were treated for smoke inhalation, including court officer Darien Wagner. He was in the lobby at the time of the fire and says that once he heard the alarm, he rushed to the sixth floor to help.
The FDNY says the blaze was sparked by an electrical problem.
