Oscar Lopez Rivera comes to the Bronx
Oscar Lopez Rivera addressed the public last night at Hostos Community College in the Bronx.
He was recently released from prison after serving a 35-year sentence.
Lopez was slated to be honroed at the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade in the city but backed down after being met with controversy.
He will still walk in the parade, however.
He was a member of the National Liberation Armed Forces, a Puerto Rican organization that has claimed responsibility for over 100 bombings in the U.S. in the 1970s and 1980s.
He was met with mostly supporters at the event, but one protester was escorted off the campus.
It was his first visit to New York City since being released from prison.
