Police shot a man after they say he attacked his roommate with a knife in Brooklyn on Sunday.
The incident happened on Shepherd Avenue around 9 p.m. in Cypress Hills.
Police say they responded to the area for a call involving several men fighting. Neighbors say there was some sort of barbecue or celebration going on when they say things escalated and a fight began between two of the men that lived there.
While police were investigating, they say 31-year-old Francis Dejesus stabbed his 28-year-old roommate at least twice in both arms with a knife.
Officers ordered Dejesus to drop the knife, but he disobeyed officers' commands and was subsequently shot once.
News 12 has been told that the victim has been released from the hospital.  The suspect is said to have a gunshot wound to the back and is still being treated.
Dejesus is facing attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges.
