A mother and son from Crown Heights shared a special moment Thursday as they graduated from college together.

Ana DeLeon and her son John Johnson were among the 1,300 graduates receiving their degrees at Kingsborough Community College. DeLeon says she attended the school 31 years ago but was irresponsible. She returned to the college when her son was in high school.

"I have to try to do better for myself, for my children and it's never too late," says DeLeon.

Her son John received a liberal arts degree and says graduating with his mom is a memory that will last a lifetime.

Both plan to continue their educations and earn a bachelor's degree. DeLeon is heading to Baruch and Johnson is going to New York University.
