A new bill could roll back the New York City Cabaret "No Dancing" Law.
Dating back to 1926, the Cabaret Law prohibits dancing in venues without a cabaret license.
Business owners, artists and dancers are calling the law outdated and demand that it be repealed. Others say the law is on the books to keep visitors safe.
City Councilman Rafael Espinal says it's time to move forward and is introducing two bills -- one to fully repeal the Cabaret Law, the other to create an office of nightlife to serve as a liaison between the city and community.
He says the next step is pushing the other members of City Council to vote for repealing the law.
