NYC summer job program brings jobs to thousands of students

The city's summer youth employment program kicked off Wednesday, bringing jobs to students all across Brooklyn.
About 70,000 city students are employed because of the program, which provides jobs in medical offices, legal offices, camps and more.
Students fill out an application and receive their assignments through a lottery system. Councilmember Mathieu Eugene sees it as a gateway to students' futures.
"They have to take whatever job they're going to do seriously," he says. "They've got to see whatever task they're going to have like an opportunity for the future."
