Chronically ill children take part in march across Brooklyn Bridge

A camp that gives chronically ill children and teens a chance to relax and have fun with friends brought its campers on an outing in the borough Thursday.
The kids and teens go to Camp Simcha, a kosher summer upstate where children with chronic illnesses can get away for two weeks and have a normal childhood experience.
The group took part in the March of Hope, which started off the evening with a picnic and ended in a march across the Brooklyn Bridge.
"This is a place where the children from the camp are going to be able to march - something that unfortunately they can't do without the camp setting - and feel like human beings, feel accomplished. It’s something that they're able to do, and we're going to do a whole song and dance, and we're going to release balloons up to the heaven and do a prayer so that the kids are healthy and well,” said camp director Nachman Maimon.
The first March of Hope took place in 2010.
