A 19-year-old boy was shot in East New York Friday, police say, despite claims by acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez that crime is down in the borough.
Police responded to the scene of the shooting on Sutter and Autumn avenues around 2:30 a.m.
Investigators say they were able to use the NYPD's ShotSpotter tool to locate the scene.
Upon arrival, police say they found the teen suffering from a gunshot to his back.
He was transported to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.
The shooting comes just a day after acting District Attorney Gonzalez's office announced crime rates in Brooklyn are at an all-time low.
According to a press release, felony crimes are down a record 4.5 percent, the lowest on record since stats have been kept.
There have been 51 reported murders since Jan. 1, to June 30, this year according to the report compared to 122 homicides in 2014.
Gonzalez says the NYPD is aiming to keep crime down by using the public housing crime suppression unit and other anti-crime strategies.
Police say no arrests have been made in the case of Friday's shooting.
