A park that was littered with problems just weeks ago is in much-better shape thanks to some cleanup efforts.
Earlier this month, News 12 Brooklyn visited Bensonhurst Park in a state that left neighbors calling it “disgusting.” Trash cans overflowed, litter covered the ground and flies swarmed across the park.
Since then, the Parks Department has gone to work cleaning up and removing unwelcome sights from the park like an idle tractor and caution tape.
"I want to thank News 12 for coming and doing this story because I'm a lot more comfortable coming to the park and being with friends, and maybe bringing my nieces and nephews,” said parkgoer Ashley Vaccaro.
With a cleaner scent and overall better appearance, residents are happy to see Bensonhurst Park in better shape, but park officials say that their cleanup effort was no different from how they usually treat the park.
