A Bensonhurst woman is celebrating a new home she received through a city program.
Ting Chen won a randomized lottery with the city's new Infill Home Ownership Opportunities Program.
Chen says she applied for the home and got notified that she had been picked a year later. She currently lives at NYCHA's Marlboro Houses but always made home ownership a goal.
"It feels like starting a new chapter, a new life in here," Chen said.
Shelter Rock Builders are creating the three-family home within 11 months. The house is partially funded by city and state subsidies.
The new program focuses on scattered sites that are hard to build on, but the house is still constructed to be resilient to flooding. Staff will also be on site to counsel Chen throughout the process.
Chen says she is finishing up some paperwork and hopes to move into her new home by September.
