Parents dismayed by drugs found at Bruckner Playground

Parents say they are dismayed by suspected drug activity at Bruckner Playground in Throgs Neck.
Laura Santiago, a mother of two, has lived in the neighborhood for 20 years. A Facebook Live video recorded by her shows a zip-close bag with a marijuana cigarette left behind. She says she has taken photos of pills, baggies and even a used condom -- all within arm's reach of children.
The park is located behind M.S. 101. Although school is out for the summer, many families bring their kids to the park, which Santiago says is hard to do when she has to be on the lookout for drug paraphernalia.
"New York City Parks has scheduled PEP officers to patrol Bruckner Playground daily and added additional trash cans to the park, along with signs noting that the park is under video surveillance," the department said in a statement to News 12. "We are continuing to explore additional measures to address this issue."
Santiago acknowledges the surveillance signs but she says she doesn't think they are keeping away nefarious activity.
