Man arrested after woman’s remains found in shopping cart
Police have made an arrest after the human remains of a woman were found inside of a grocery cart in the Bronx, officials say.
Darryl Orr, 57, of the Bronx, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his Walton Avenue home Thursday.
He is facing charges for concealing a human corpse.
In a video shared exclusively with News 12, investigators can be seen inspecting the cart containing the remains at the corner of E. 182nd Street and Jerome Avenue in University Heights around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say two men called 911 when they found a black garbage bag covering a box containing the human remains inside the cart.
Investigators initially reported the remains belong to a male, however, they say a medical examiner determined they belong to a 27-year-old female.
Police say Orr and the woman knew each other and she could be seen on surveillance video entering his home.
Orr also faces multiple drug charges.
A medical examiner will determine the exact cause of the woman's death.
Police have not released the identity of the woman but say her last known address was in Massachusetts.
