Community handball tournament held at Orchard Beach

Two-hundred of the world's top handball players are competing in a tournament at Orchard Beach Sunday.
Organizers say the purpose of the Red Bull Slaps community handball event is to promote the and provide an opportunity for both amateurs and professionals to compete side-by-side.
The tournament is for young adults ages 18 and older who play at a competitive level.
Irish immigrants introduced the sport of handball in the early 1900s and it grew immensely in popularity during the Great Depression.
Organizers say over the last century, handball has become one of the most widely played street sports in New York City, which boasts over 2,000 handball courts throughout its five boroughs.
There are four divisions in which men and women can compete. They have the opportunity to win up to $10,000 in cash prizes.
