Brownsville group works to improve women's well-being

BROOKLYN -

A Brownsville organization is empowering women to take ownership of their health and general well-being.

About 40 women are partaking in running, yoga, kickboxing and nutrition education as part of the We Run Brownsville grassroots group.

The women meet two to three times each week over an eight-week span and support one another in making lifestyle and behavioral changes.

The organization's two founders say they have been best friends since they were young, and now the women in the group have developed special relationships of their own.

Women in the group are training for their third race, the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K, this Saturday.
