Hundreds gathered Friday to say goodbye to a Brooklyn resident who was killed in Iraq earlier this month.
The funeral procession for Sgt. Roshain Brooks took place at Harmony Funeral Home in East Flatbush, where family and friends remembered a man who gave his life while fighting against ISIS forces in Northern Iraq. He was 30 years old.
Brooks was a paratrooper who migrated to the United States from Jamaica. Family members say he was motivated to join the armed forces after the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Both Brooks and Sgt. Allen Stigler, from Texas, were killed in the blast. They were both part of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Brooks' family describes Roshain as a humble and quiet man, who also loved to make people laugh.
Brooks will be laid to rest at Calverton Cemetery.
