Posted: Updated:

A man has been found dead in the water near East 58th Street and Avenue U in Mill Basin, officials say.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.

The man was found unconscious and unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirm that the man's body was found wrapped in a blue tarp that was wrapped in duct tape. They say the man's legs were tied with an orange electrical cord that was tied to a cinder block.

The medical examiner's office is investigating and the man has not been identified.

The NYPD dive team was searching for any additional evidence that could still be in the water.
