A Bed-Stuy gallery is bringing the work of famous Brooklyn artist Jean-Michel Basquiat back to the borough this weekend.
The Bishop Gallery is featuring some of the late artist’s rare pieces flown in from Europe. Basquiat’s work is known for shaping Brooklyn and the way people view art around the world.
Gallery co-owner Irwin John says he was inspired during a trip to Spain, where he decided to bring back three rare pieces before leaving.
John says he hopes the weekend installation will create more access to art that helped shape the borough, and encourages people of all ages to come out and experience the culture.
