Brooklyn charter school wins $10M in nationwide competition

A Brooklyn school celebrated Friday night after scoring $10 million in a nationwide competition.
“It’s nice to see that we mean something,” said one student.
Brooklyn Lab is one of 10 schools that won a competition through the XQ: Super School Project, challenging students on how to reimagine high school to better suit the needs of today’s pupils.
While some students were lucky enough to attend the celebration in Los Angeles Friday night, Brooklyn Lab hosted a celebration for students and their family members to watch a live broadcast of the event with food, face painting and other activities.
News 12 Brooklyn has learned that the school plans to buy its students each a Macbook laptop with a portion of the winnings.
