12-year-old boy pens book about living with sickle cell disease

A 12-year-old Brooklyn boy has written a book about his experience coping with sickle cell disease with the hope of helping other children.
Parker Todd says he didn't know what was happening to him when he was first diagnosed.
He recently discussed his book during a conference at Brookdale Hospital in Brownsville.
The book, ‘The Adventures of the Sickler,’ is about an 11-year-old boy named Chase Parker, who lives with sickle cell. Parker turns his pain into power by using it to motivate and uplift other children.
Doctors say one in 10 Americans with sickle cell live in New York State with an overwhelming 80 percent living in New York City.
