BEDFORD-STUYVESANT -

Bed-Stuy-based nonprofit "Ballin out Loud" hit the hardwood Saturday to help people affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Players and community members attended the charity tournament at Uncommon Charter High School to raise money for the many people affected by the storm.

Residents came to watch the game and also donated items such as water, toiletries, canned goods, diapers, clothes and shoes.

The game featured local children as well as professional basketball players from the NBA and WNBA to show off their skills.

"It's an honor to help out people that suffered from Hurricane Harvey and it's like helping them in a big way," says tournament participant Nathaniel Wilder.

The organization says if there are any extra donations, they plan on helping those affected by hurricanes Irma and Jose.

All the donations will be sent down to Texas by bus next weekend.
