Woman taking part in race to honor late father

A Bronx woman is taking part in Sunday's New Balance Bronx 10 Mile race on the Grand Concourse to honor her late father.
"Running in New York City, it's just great to have people cheering you on," says Alyssa Ruiz, with her 7-year-old who's been a steady source of support by her side.
Ruiz was expecting to run the race with her father, former NYPD Sgt. Nelson Ruiz. He died after suffering a heart attack at age 61 while on a run three days before the 2016 New York City Marathon.
Ruiz says her father's legacy will be the wind at her back during the race.
"You know...running is therapy," she says.
For those wishing to cheer on the runners in Sunday's race, the finish line is at the corner of River Avenue and East 161st Street.
