Several consul generals are stepping up to collect items to be shipped out to several Caribbean countries impacted by the recent hurricanes.
The Caricom Consular Corps collected canned goods, clothing, baby diapers and toiletries during a three-week drive in Crown Heights.
Members of group include the consul generals of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, the Grenadines, Dominica and Belize. They  joined together to help out Barbuda, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos and the United States Virgin Islands.
The items will be shipped through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency.
The hurricane relief drive will continue next Sunday, Oct. 1 at Friends for Crown Heights on Prospect Place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers say there is a need for baby clothes.
