A fundraiser was held in Manhattan Tuesday night to raise money for the family of fallen NYPD Detective Miosotis Familia.
Familia was shot and killed in July while sitting in her mobile command unit in the Bronx.
The Detective Rafael Ramos Foundation hosted the fundraiser on West 45th Street. The foundation is named after the Brooklyn officer who was also shot and killed assassination-style in 2014.
"My husband loved being an officer, so I just wanted to keep his memory alive by helping other people and that's what we're doing tonight," says Maritza Ramos, wife of Detective Ramos.
J.W. Cortes, of the show "Gotham," hosted the ceremony.
"I think first and foremost we want to continue to remember one of our fallen," he said. "We want to remind these three beautiful, amazing young people that their mom will never be forgotten."
One of Familia's children spoke about her mother at the event.
The Detective Rafael Ramos Foundation is dedicated to helping families of deceased members of law enforcement.
