Lehman College wants to double the amount of college degrees earned by its students by the year 2030, school officials announced.
The announcement came Wednesday under the campaign name '90 by 30' and was made by college president José Luis Cruz.
Cruz says the goal is to produce 90,000 degrees and certificates by the year 2030.
He made the announce during his official inauguration at Lehaman after serving as the college president for a year.
He says the year 2030 was chosen as a benchmark because children who are in kindergarten today, will be graduating high school then.
He says it's a long-term goal, but in the meantime, he has hired 25 new faculty members and 25 new staff members to accommodate college campus growth.
Cruz says the college is also breaking ground on a new 50,000-square-foot nursing facility.
