Drivers oppose Sunset Park bike lane proposal

A proposal to place a protected bike lane between 43rd Street and Second Avenue connecting Sunset Park to Bush Terminal Park has some drivers upset about new parking restrictions.
Parking is already scarce, workers in the area say.
"You cannot find parking," says Roger Asim, who told News 12 Monday he would probably be about 30 minutes late to work just trying to find a spot for his car. "You have to look around for at least an hour, until somebody gets out of their parking spot."
The Department of Transportation says the bike lane would restrict parking in only a very limited area.
Jeremy Laufer, of Community Board 7, says the plan would cut only five parking spaces -- and none from residential areas.
CB7 plans to vote on the plan on Oct. 18.
