Suspect charged in string of East New York sex assaults

The man accused in a string of sexual assaults within a couple hours Tuesday morning in East New York underwent extensive questioning by police through the night into Wednesday and now faces a slew of charges.
News 12 cameras caught a glimpse of 26-year-old Keith Wiggins as he was escorted out of the Special Victims Division at the NYPD's 75th Precinct in Crown Heights.
Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, Wiggins allegedly approached a 29-year-old on the street, threatened her with a gun and raped her before fleeing the scene. About a half-hour later, police say he approached a 15-year-old girl, but she was able to get away. The next incident occurred around 9 a.m., when police say Wiggins forced a woman leaving her home to go back inside and sexually assaulted her.
Police say Wiggins was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where he was trying to return a Dodge van. The vehicle's license plate matched the one provided by a witness from the third incident.
Wiggins is facing charges that include rape, two counts of criminal sex act and menacing. News 12 is told that additional charges are pending.
