NY-based artist to paint official Obama portrait

The Obamas have chosen artists to paint their official portraits, including one with ties to Brooklyn.

Kehinde Wiley is a New York-based artist whose work has been featured prominently in Brooklyn in the past.

He is known for his contemporary paintings of African-Americans and painting modern figures like Michael Jackson and Notorious B.I.G in a classic way.

Wiley will paint the official portrait of former President Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama chose Baltimore-based artist Amy Sherald.
