Brooklyn employees reminded of their Bill of Rights
Brooklyn residents learned about their rights in the workplace in Canarsie Wednesday.
The Department of Consumer Affairs passed out pamphlets listing the Workers’ Bill of Rights to city workers at six different subway stations across the borough.
Commissioner Lorelei Salas was on site to help spread the word to commuters.
"We want them to be able to assert their rights and know that if they are retaliated against we will protect them," Salas said.
The Department of Consumer Affairs says it's an opportunity to educate employees about the key workplace protection laws that exist like overtime and paid sick leave.
Wednesday’s initiative was a part of “City Hall in Your Borough” week.
