The Weeksville Houses celebrated one full year without a shooting Thursday.
The most recent came on Halloween in 2016, prompting activists to increase efforts to end gun violence in the neighborhood, which had been violent in the past.
The last year also passed without homicides or reported rapes in the complex.
Officials from Save Our Streets Crown Heights say they help organize community events to boost efforts.
In January, another public housing complex -- the Albany Houses -- celebrated a similar achievement.
