Veterans Day events held throughout NYC

NEW YORK -

Veterans Day will be observed around the United States today to honor the nation's heroes who served in the Unites States Military.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year marks the end of World War I.

The largest event in the country is taking place in New York City with the 99th annual Veterans Day Parade.

The parade starts with a commemorative ceremony at Madison Square Park at 10 a.m. and will end with a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m.

The parade will travel down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and will step off at 11:15 a.m. on 26th Street and continue to 52nd Street.
