Protesters: Bus only lanes to hurt small businesses
Some small business owners in Clinton Hill protested Thursday against a new plan by the city's Department of Transportation to include a "bus only" lane in their busy neighborhood.
They say a bus only lane potentially limits the places where trucks can stop for deliveries.
The city's Department of Transportation has been advocating for the bus lane in an effort to reduce congestion.
Members of the local business improvement district say they opposed the lanes as initially proposed by the DOT. Now that they are being implemented, they are advocating for reduced hours and installation of loading zones all along Fulton Street.
