Police are asking for the public's help finding a man they say tried to rape a woman in Bath Beach.
Officials say the man, captured on surveillance video, attacked a 36-year-old Wednesday just before 3 a.m. as she was walking near Bath and 20th avenues.
Officials say the suspect approached the woman from behind, covered her mouth with his hand and pushed her to the ground.
News 12 is told the man then attempted to grope her and tried to remove her underwear.
The woman reportedly fought the man off, which led him to flee from the scene.
The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
Police describe the suspect as being around 30 years old, 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. They say he was last seen wearing a gray coat, black shoes and gray jogging clothes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
